CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) AND LABRADOR WELFARE

As you will appreciate, the restrictions and precautions implemented by the Government to combat the spread of Covid-19 are having a significant impact on the work we do to help dogs find their way into new homes.

It is for this reason that, for the first time in our history, we have suspended our application process and we are NOT currently accepting new applications to join our Matching List.

This approach has not been taken lightly but will continue until such time as the Government lifts its restrictions sufficiently to allow us to enter the homes of any new potential adopters or foster carers to undertake a pre-adoption home visit in person and in line with our responsible rehoming policy.

We hope our approach will not only ensure the safety of our volunteers and the staff at kennels but will also safeguard the future welfare of dogs needing new homes who find their way to our door.

Our commitment to our adopted dogs and their owners remains as strong as ever and we continue to support all of the dogs on our Lifetime Foster and Sponsor Dog schemes with support and advice being available should it be required.

Our doors are always open to dogs needing new homes and owners should not hesitate to contact us should they need our help. We are able to admit dogs safely into our care using social distancing and by prior appointment following discussion with our Relinquishing Team.

All of the team at Labrador Welfare thank you for your continued support and understanding during what are challenging times for each and every one of us.

More information about caring for your Labrador during the current pandemic is available from the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes.  We have also produced an Emergency Care Plan Form that we recommend you complete and keep in an easy to locate place INSIDE your home so that, in the event of illness or hospitalisation, you can be reassured your Labrador will be taken care of by someone you know and trust.
