Wishing you all a happy christmas and successful 2010. We adopted tyler
over a year ago and she is wonderful. She makes me and the girls laugh
everyday. Everyone in the village we live in loves her and cannot
believe how special she is. Everyone who comes inot contact with her
adores her. Wish I had that effect on peolple I meet!! Best wishes

Your doing a great job. We lost our ten year old Great Dane last year

I was SO fortunate to have found Ellie with the help of Jude and
Labrador Welfare and the subsequent additions to the family when she
gave birth to 7 black labrador puppies just two weeks later!Having kept
the first born dog and finding good homes for his brothers and sisters,
Ellie, George and I are Labrador Welfare's number one fans!!! |

Its now a year since we adopted Luke, and how quickly it has gone it
seems like we have always had him. He has had a wonderful summer in the
Lake District with lots of lovely woodland walks and playing in the sea
at Walney Island. He is a lovely chap and would recommend Labrador
Welfare to anyone wanting to adopt. |

I just wanted to say a massive thanks to June and Sue who are both
fantastic! We collected Bonny a week ago and she has settled so well.
June matched us with an absolutely perfect dog who has quickly become a
very big part of our family. June has rang regularly to make sure
everything is ok, the support has been great. Thank you again for

About 9 and a half years ago you kindly found me a Labrador puppy Simba
about 8 months old, I collected him from his owners at Whixley near
York, sadly this weekend he became very ill, the vet thinks he most
likely picked up something with Poison in it, he had to be put down this
afternoon, he was a great dog and will be sadly misseed. At present we
feel it best not to replace him, when we do I will be back in touch.
Keep up the good work. |

Just got back from a lovely day at Castle Howard after doing the
sponsored dog walk for labrador welfare. We have had a great day.
Weather great today, surroundings fab, cute dogs and lovely company.

We adopted Jack just before christmas 2008. He's such a lovable dog with
no malice in him whatsoever. Unfortunatley this year he kept losing
hair, so we took him to the vet only to discover he suffers from many
allergies. Hopefully on a beef and dairy free diet he might start to
look like a black labrador again. We just love him to bits. xx |

Myself and my family adopted Buster a few months ago and couldn't be
happier with the dog you chose for us. He is a brilliant addition to the
family and has fitted in really well, it feels like we've always had
him. He loves walks and dispite being told he was water phoebic I think
it is safe to say he isn't wherever there's a puddle or water nearby
Bust will find it. Non of us would e without him so I would like to say
thank you from me and the family for giving us a lovely dog to love and

We adopted Elvis in March, we renamed him Morgan. When we first got him
he was still quite wild, he pulled on the lead and went for other dogs.
We have had one to one training and have had him castrated. He is much
better now and walks on a loose lead and generally is well behaved. He
is such a lovely dog. Labrador welfare really look after you when you
adopt, we received regular phone calls to make sure he was settling in.
In just a couple of months we have worked hard and now have a stable
happy dog. Thanks to all at labrador welfare. |

Just a quick update on Diesel. We adopted him in July 2008. After a very
rocky start he’s now settled in very well. He is such a pleasure to have
in the house although he still has a naughty side (like jumping in to a
cannel so my partner had to fish him out along with some very kind
passers bye). He has made friends at doggie day camp and enjoys many
trips to the beach. We have just booked a dog friendly holiday to
August; this will be his first holiday. We plan to make it to the open
day on July 27th at the kennels. Thank you for all your hard work and
help with settling diesel into his new home. We look forward to meeting

Just a quick update on Duke, who we have now had for a year. He is the
most calm relaxing dog you could ever wish to meet with a wonderful
temperament, he loves playing with any dog but adores playing with other

We just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to adopt Bruno - we had
9 1/2 wonderful years with him. We adopted Bruno through Labrador
Welfare when he was about 4 years old - he was a bit of a mess when we
took him in - holes in his ears, bald patches, sensitive mouth, early
stages of arthritis, to mention but a few things. We brought Bruno with
us to Canada when we emigrated and he loved it (not the flight so much)
but Canada and the wide open country! In June 2006 he had emergency
surgery for a tumour the size of a rugby ball in his spleen. We were
devastated, it all happened so quick and we thought we were going to
lose him on the operating table. The fantastic work of our vet and all
her staff pulled together and saved his life. They predicted about 3 - 6
months, however, we watched him plod along for 18 months after his
surgery. At about 14 years of age he could go on no longer and we
couldn't bear to watch his pain and misery and asked our vet to put him
to sleep on January 12th 2008. RIP Bruno - you gave us so much joy and
happy memories. Thanks again June and Labrador Welfare for allowing us
to have Bruno in our lives. Keep up the fantastic work! Helen & John |

Having just read the wonderful,funny and touching book -- Marley & me by
John Grogan, i now look upon our dog with so much more love and respect
,(i have this feeling every time i look at him )because even with his
few little quirks, we are very fortunate to be belong to our incredible

Update on Tyler. We have had Tyler now for 6 months and she really is
one of the family. Not a day goes by where she does not have us all in
stitches with her antics. Tyler has been to the vets and we have been
told she has a heart murmur but it should not be too much of a problem.
I can tell you it certainly does not stop her running at full pelt when
we go out! Thanks again to Labrador welfare. Keep up the good work. |

I have a 9 month old male black lab who we all love to bits. This is a
lovely website and all the people at the Labrador Welfare are wonderful
for giving up so much time and energy into caring for these wonderful
dogs. If only people realised that taking on a lab (or any dog) is a
24hour a day 7 day a week commitment then perhaps so many wouldn't neet
rehoming. My husband only said the other day that its just as hard to
raise a dog as it is a child (we have both). Good luck for the future
and i look forward to the event at Rainbow kennels later in the year. |

There are certain people out there going around trying to act like
qualified vets, carrying out scans and blood tests and even going as far
as artificially inseminating dogs and telling people that they are
qualified when there not. Yes this sounds very worrying! Im sure that
many people will have been and still are being taken in by them! Iam one
such unfortunate person that has been taken in and led to believe that
iam having 5 pups and that 5 heart beats had even been picked up even
days before the pups arrived and I ended up with one puppy. This has
happened on a couple of occasions and has now led me to belive that the
information being given is completely false and looks to be made up! I
have heard similar stories to mine from other people and have even been
told that qualified vets have heard of and are totally unhappy with the
way people like this are trying to take away their business especially
when they have trained for many years and graduated to become a vet!
This is a warning to people that are thinking of using someone to attend
to their dog other than a qualified vet to be very careful because if
you are taken in by someone like this it could cause your dog more harm
than good and lead you to having to take your beloved dog to the vets in
the end! My message to everyone is if there is any problem with your dog
take it to a qualified vet and save yourself the upset, expense and
hassle of letting some vet wanna be attend to your dog. I hope I have
saved people from thinking otherwise. These people are taking the mickey
out of professional qualified vets and their false practices should be
brought to an end! Please let me know your view on this thankyou.. |

Hello,I have fostered Jilly a black lab she is 15 yrs old I have had her
3 yrs she is the nicest dog I have ever had.Even though she needs a lot
of medication and is totally deaf(hand signals and flashing torches!)she
is so very willing.I can take her anywhere ,on the bus ,to work,she just
lays and waits for me.I am dreading the day when she goes to the "doggy
heaven"and I dont think I willget another as good as her I will no doubt
try.God Bless the Lab. Welfare! |

hello everyone at labrador welfare . it has taken some time to write to
you and let you know how scooby,(now ruby) is doing and i only have good
words and lots of happy doggy days to tell you about. she has turned out
to be a wonderfull and well mannered lady. she gets un really well with
our older lab , she has given him a new lease of life !!! she even loves
our two cats ,although she still thinks that chasing them is fun, she
never hurts them just licks them like puppies. she loves her walks in
the woods and on the beach,im so pleased she came to live with us. she
can spend the rest of her doggy days with us,we love her very much. she
has made lots of new friends and loves to meet up with them every day to
run and chase her ball, we wouldnt be without her. |

Update on Errol. Bit of a tottering time of late. The Metacam has
kicked in and he still enjoys the daily walks in the park. He had a
spell over Xmas of not eating much but he seemed to have come round from
this. Two weeks ago he had 2 fits one after the other we kept a close
eye on him and noticed that he seemed to have a temperature. We had a
visit to the vets and after a thorough examination this was confirmed.
He has also lost some weight so we need to keep an eye on that. Things
are looking better appetite returned and antibiotics done the
trick.Fingers crossed. |

Update on Rocky: We have had our black lab for 14 months .Rocky is the
most fantastic dog , he is clean ,well mannered and behaved, each one of
us have their own special bond with him , but he is a daddys boy ! and
lazy slob with the girls.Rocky isnt very good around other dogs , but
has learnt that he needs SIT when he sees one, most times he manages
this !! We feel we have a full understanding of his needs and we believe
that by placing, Rocky with us June provided Rocky with the home
environment he deserves and our family with a fantastic pet. We love him
very much and look forward to many years with him. Thanks June |
